I am the Emerging Technologies Librarian at the College of Wooster. In April 2011 I earned a Masters of Science in Information, specializing in Library and Information Studies and Information Policy from the University of Michigan.
I'm incredibly passionate about the intersection of technology, learning and public service. It's that love that drew me to the library profession in the first place. I've been privledged to work at the Taubman Health Sciences Library and Kresge Business Administration Library at the University of Michigan where I have gained reference and classroom instruction experience, along with the opportunity to work on special projects like the Plain Language Medical Dictionary mobile website and iPhone app.
The path towards the College of Wooster involved numerous job applications, cover letters and interviews. After accepting the job offer, I set out to do for library job seekers what I wish I had myself. I founded Open Cover Letters, a website that displays real cover letters written by hired librarians. Opening up the opaque hiring process is one of my objectives, along with providing guidance to friends and colleagues who are currently searching for library positions.
